FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Vincentric Announces Best Value in Canada Awards; Toyota Leads the Way

BINGHAM FARMS, Michigan –  October 30th, 2012 – The first annual Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ awards were announced today, with Toyota leading the pack, winning the brand award for passenger cars while also taking home awards for ten individual vehicles. Mercedes-Benz and GMC also performed well, winning the awards for best value luxury brand and best value truck brand respectively.

Among the Toyota winners were 5 hybrids, including the new Prius V which debuted this year. Mercedes-Benz earned its luxury brand award with 4 vehicles receiving the Vincentric award, while BMW was close on their heels with 3 award winners. The strength of the GMC Sierra Heavy Duty pickup was the key to its success in the truck segment. Other top performers were Kia, Hyundai, and Chevrolet, with two awards each while Volkswagen showed strength with 5 different diesels earning 2012 Best Value in Canada™ awards.

“Our awards take into account all costs involved with owning a vehicle, enabling consumers to understand automotive value and measure the impact that owning a specific vehicle will have on their financial situation," said David Wurster, President of Vincentric. "We are proud to provide consumers with the information they need to make informed automotive purchase decisions in Canada."

To determine the 2012 Vincentric Best Value in Canada awards, Vincentric analyzed over 1,700 vehicle configurations measuring cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, the company identified the Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces plus the Northwest Territories using a range of annual kilometer intervals and insurance profiles.
