FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Toyota, Ram, and Mercedes-Benz Top Vincentric Best Value in Canada Awards; Volkswagen also Performs Well

BINGHAM FARMS, Michigan –  September 12th, 2013 – The second annual Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ awards were announced today, with Toyota receiving its second consecutive award as Best Value Passenger Car Brand while picking up eight individual vehicle awards. Volkswagen also performed well in the passenger car segments, with six award winning vehicles. Mercedes-Benz retained its Best Value Luxury Brand title while also earning five model-level awards, while Ram showed its strength in the pickup market, earning the 2013 Vincentric Best Value Truck Brand in Canada award.

Much of the success for these brands was due to the strength of their alternative fuel vehicles. Toyota won 4 of the 5 hybrid awards, with Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC diesel technology delivering three winners and Volkswagen's TDI clean diesels earning five awards. In addition, the Ram pickup winners were diesel-powered as were 2 of the 3 Audi award winners. Other manufacturers performing well in the Vincnetric Best Value in Canada awards were Lexus, earning three awards, as well as GM, Ford, Mazda, and Honda, taking home two awards each.

“The 2013 Vincentric Best Value in Canada awards demonstrates the significant impact that alternative fuel vehicles are having on the marketplace," stated David Wurster, President of Vincentric. "We look forward to providing Canadian consumers with the opportunity to gather insight into Canadian specific automotive ownership costs by honoring vehicles that offer buyers the best overall value," he added.

To determine the 2013 Vincentric Best Value in Canada awards, Vincentric analyzed over 1,800 vehicle configurations measuring cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, the company identified the Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces plus the Northwest Territories using a range of annual kilometer intervals and insurance profiles.
