Competition continues to grow for compact sedans, and of the nineteen vehicles in this segment the Honda Civic outperformed all other models with cost-of-ownership over 7% lower than expected. The Volkswagen Jetta Diesel had admirable results as well, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Civic's better than average maintenance, fuel, and operating costs.
